Eating Seasonally - Spring!

As we are very much in the midst of Spring, we thought it would be useful to highlight the food varieties that are currently in season.

Consuming local, and seasonal produce throughout the year allows you to eat food that is consistently fresher, more flavoursome and nutrient-dense than foods that are not in season, or those that have been transported over long distances.

Below we have listed some of the common, and not-so common fruits and vegetables that you will see available at your local grocery store or market.

Fruit: apples, pears, oranges, mandarins, lemons, tangelos, tangerines, strawberries, mulberries, loquats, rhubarb, avocado,

Vegetables: beetroot, bok-choy, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, carrots, celery, leeks, onions, parsnip, potatoes, pumpkin, green peas, silverbeet and spinach.

Reach for more of these varieties over the next month or so, and notice how they make you feel.
