Are You Sensitive to Salicylates?

Salicylates are a type of natural chemical found in many plants that are part of their ‘immune system’ and are supposed to be ingested by humans without problem.

Salicylates build up in the body over time and people with salicylate intolerance can experience adverse symptoms like:

. Headaches & migraines
. Eczema
. Hives
. Digestive system irritation
. Rhinitis
. Exacerbation of asthma
. Behavioural problems
. Difficulty sleeping
. Mood changes

We find salicylates in both natural and artificial products, with some examples being; fruits, vegetables, honey, nuts, herbs & spices, beer, wine, coffee & tea, perfume, cleaning products, some medications such as aspirin.

Whilst healing our digestive system is fundamental to recovery, we must also improve our elimination and metabolism of salicylates.
