Allergy or Intolerance?

A true food allergy causes an immune system reaction that affects numerous organs in our body. It can cause a range of symptoms and in some cases, an allergic food reaction can be severe or life-threatening.  In contrast, food intolerance symptoms are generally less serious and often limited to digestive problems. Our patients who have a food intolerance tend to experience things like tummy pain, bloating, wind and/or diarrhoea. skin rashes or itching.

It is important to understand that when there is trauma (intolerance) around food, particularly when the foods are more neutral or alkaline, that it is very rarely the food causing the discomfort. Often, it is our bodies that are not functioning properly. Common food intolerances and digestive disorders are not something that we have to live with and generally can be resolved with some simple changes in lifestyle, colonic irrigation, and nutrition guidance.
