Our kidneys are responsible for managing many things including our body's pH, regulating our electrolyte balance, and of course detoxification - acting as a filtration system.
They need to be strong and resilient in order to know where the vitamins and minerals go and where the waste goes - in short, they need to direct the WASTE to the bladder and the WORTH in the blood to the liver.
If this gets confused, then we may find ourselves in a state of discomfort as nothing is getting to the right place.
Our kidneys need to filtrate 180L of blood to get 1 litre of urine to our bladder. Given we only have 4L of blood in our body, this means it needs to circulate 45 x around us to get the result - amazing right?!
Although there is nothing like having a good poo, it is so important to remember that urine is the absolute waste from our blood - our blood carries a lot of good, but it can also host a lot of nasties too.
Hydration is not only the key to our cellular health, but also essential in proper kidney function.
