Chewing Gum ...

Stomach bloating is when our belly becomes stretched, puffy and uncomfortable. It usually happens as a result of stress, excess wind, constipation, or swallowing air from talking while eating.

Something else that can trigger a bloated tummy is a daily habit you may not think twice about - chewing gum!

When we chew gum, we swallow a lot of little sips of air over time, filling our stomach with unwanted gas. This process can actually trigger trapped wind - creating further discomfort and distension.

The other concern with gum is that it contains the popular artificial sweetener aspartame. When metabolised by the body, aspartame turns into both wood alcohol which is a poison and formaldehyde, which is a carcinogen.
